El Rinconcito de Santa Barbara Restaurant History
The Rinconcito de Santa Barbara Restaurant was founded on April 4, 1997 in the city of Hialeah in Miami-Dade County, Florida, USA.
The founders are Rosa Rivera and Pedro Delgado.
It started as a small Cuban Cafeteria, including toast, cuban coladas, “cortaditos” and a small takeout Canteen.
Two years later, Rosa and Pedro went to Puerto Rico on a short break and while resting in Guajataca Spa, as they ate Mofongo with Shrimp, Rosa had the idea of bringing the Mofongo and Puerto Rican food, including the famous Yellow Rice with Pigeon Peas to Hialeah.
Undoubtedly, this idea was a success and our customers accepted it as something exquisite. Gradually, new dishes were created around the Mofongo, for which we had to buy more than 50 piles in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
Over the course of the years, the Mofongo with Fried Pork Mass has become our main dish. Over time, we included other Puerto Rican culinary delights, including Pasteles and Alcapurrias.
In 1999 we started to expand our business, increasing the Restaurant Area and incorporating Delivery Services which has played an important role in the growth of our business.
Today, our restaurant has a capacity of 100 people, with an extensive menu with a variety of Puerto Rican and Cuban dishes, Cantina, Corporate and Party Menu for Holidays.
Our family business prides itself on having employees who have been with us for over 10 years of service, both managers and chefs and thanks to them and the family; we have made this Restaurant a true corner of Puerto Rico and Cuba in Hialeah.
